Damon looks up when she comes in, blinking in surprise. He rearranges his features slightly; he’s trying to pretend that he hasn’t been waiting for her. His eyes glaze over with tenderness, but he’s clenching his fists. It’s easy to tell that he’s resisting the urge to pull her into his arms. He looks so…happy. (Happy that she’s come back to him.) And the realization hits her like a freight train, hard and new and ever so important: She loves him. Of course she loves him. How could she not? He’s Damon. He’s moody and he’s sarcastic and he always knows how to make her laugh when nothing is funny. He’s wounded and brave and loyal and the most protective man she’s ever met. He’s honest and he’s hopeful and he loves her with everything he has and then some. Of courseshe loves him. She’s felt so many different things for him, but this is by far the most powerful.
