Let me explain something because it seems like some people cannot grasp who Damon truly is and refuse to peel the layers off his character and see who he truly is to the core. Instead of just taking things as is. A real Damon fan would never say Damon is innately evil and that is the be all end all to his character. A real Damon fan would not say that Damon doing something good is OOC. A real Damon fan would know that Damon has a low self esteem but walks around with a façade but when he says something like “he can’t do good, it is not in him”, he says those things not because it is true but because he has convinced himself that it is true. There is a difference. He has convinced himself that there is nothing good about him when it’s actually the opposite. Furthermore other people believe that as well and for that reason their perceptions of him are projected on to him and Damon lives up to those. A real Damon fan would not root for him to give up but instead would rather see Damon try and fail than fail to try. To know Damon is to know that his bad boy demeanor is a front. To know Damon is to know that Damon struggling to accept the fact that he can do good is not a weak trait but it’s called character growth because he’s actually struggling. To know Damon is to know that when you see Damon at his most vulnerable state that is not him being pathetic, that is him letting his guard down. Last but not least to know Damon is to know that love is what drives Damon you can call it twisted you can say he’s crazy but it is what it is. To know Damon is to know the man behind the mask.
